Niks and Naks on the ice

The lake is frozen solid. Yesterday it was wonderfully beautiful, like black glass, practically no snow on the ice . But it was a bit too cold ( -12 C or 10 F) for taking photographs. Today it is not quite that cold, but it is cloudy and has started snowing a little. Niks and Naks wanted to go and see if we can still get some nice photographs.

Niks: The ice is like black glass...

Naks: We can see ice bubbles inside...

Naks: From the places where there are rifts (now frozen) we can see how thick the ice is.

Niks: It must be about 8 inches by now!

Naks: The snow is starting to accumulate on the ice...

Niks: Here you can see that we are quite a long distance from the shore...

Naks: On the snowy patch we now match the landscape.

Niks: Except your hair...

Niks: We went all the way to the Hedgehog Rock lighthouse!

Naks: There are other tourists here taking pictures, too.

Niks: Most of them seem to have come on skates because there is so little snow on the ice.

Niks: Here is one of the small rocks separate from the big main rock...

Naks: We claim this our own.

Niks: We name this the Troll Rock!
