Baking Day

According to Mr. Organizer the kitchen is supposed to be doll free zone. But it looks like someone sneaked in when it was time to bake some goodies for Christmas.

Haitula: Mmmmmm... green cherries. I think I'll sample a few.

Outsider: Leave those alone! They are needed for the fruit cake.

Haitula finds a safer spot for a while...

Haitula: I'll control the radio, then. I've tuned it to the Classical Music Station...

But Haitula did not stay out of trouble for long...

Haitula: May I control the machine?

Outsider: Definitely not! You are way too small. It's far too dangerous. Go back to the radio. And change the station, the music has stopped and they are explaining something that sounds boring.

Haitula: OK. Hey, I found a station that is sending children's program and they are playing Christmal Carols. This is suitable background music for Christmas baking.

But Haitula was determined to help...

Haitula: I'm big enough to sift in the cocoa powder...

Haitula: The mix is ready to go into the tin. Mmmm... it looks good. I wonder if I can pick out a piece of cherry...

Outsider: Get out of there! You don't want to fall in and end into being baked into the cake.

Haitula: Oh, goodie, now the cake is in the oven and I can lick the bowls.

Haitula: Others have watched papier mache dry or grass grow. But I'm wathing the cake bake. This is more interesting, it only takes about an hour.

But as some cookies were baked in the mean time, Haitula was determined to help again...

Haitula: I'll sprinkle the coconut flakes on the cookies...

Outsider: You are sprinkling them all over the place...

Inspite of all Haitulas attempts to help the goodies were finally ready and had cooled enough for tasting.

Haitula: Mmmmm.. that looks and smells good. May I eat the whole piece of cake?

Outsider: Of course not. It is bigger than you, you would burst!

Haitula: Uh, at least a small piece.... Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... this is good. I was a good helper, wasn't I?

I am glad none of my girls seem to be very interested in dried fruit... I have enough trouble keeping it in the house as it is! Haitula did a great job helping. Jasmine also likes to step on cookie sheets. Hope all your baking turned out well!
